Forensic Database provides a way for you to store information about known illegal files. Forensic
Database stores the file's original name, the size of the file, the SHA1 hash of
the file
(click here for more on hash values),
and any notes you may have concerning the file.
Forensic P2P
can utilize Forensic Database to check if any search results are known illegal files.
Important Note: Forensic Database
does not store actual files in the database. Forensic Database
only stores information about the files (file name, file size, hash value of each
added file).
Technical Details about Forensic Database
Forensic Database stores the information about added files in an XML database. The
XML database is located at C:\Program Files\SPEARForensics\forensicdatabase.xml.
An XML format is used so you do not have to install an expensive, sophisticated
database to use Forensic Database and it allows the database to be easily portable
between investigators' computers. If you have specific needs please
contact us
and we will try to accommodate them.
System Requirements
Forensic Database requires:
- Windows 2000, 2003, XP, Vista
- .NET Framework 2.0 (Free download from Microsoft)
- Administrator access on the computer where Forensic Database will be installed.
